| "Industria Cartonera Dominicana, S. A. was founded
on February 17, 1939 as the first corrugated and folding carton box manufacturer in the
Dominican Republic, as a result of the visionary integration strategy of the Ariza family
businesses, established at the dawn of the twentieth century by the prestigious Dominican
entrepreneur and public man Don José del Carmen Ariza Torres. By the end of the 1960s under the administration of its current President Mr. José del Carmen Ariza Gómez, the company experienced a thorough technological renovation and substantial physical expansion, carried on to successfully satisfy the extraordinary demand of the domestic industrial sector that would surge during the following years after the implementation of the industrial incentive and promotion economic model of 1968. Two decades later responding to the challenges brought
about by the "opening" of the local economy, Industria Cartonera Dominicana, S.
A. launched in 1990 a massive reform program which would transform it into the leading
company in its field, and which included the modernization of its quality
assurance systems, production and service technology, its exclusive concentration in
the corrugated sheet and box operation and the conquest of new markets; culminating
recently with its thriving association with the Jefferson Smurfit Group, the
worlds leading producer of corrugated boxes." |
